The designation has been awarded since 1994 and is a joint project of the Association for Toys and Games, the Toy Association of the Union of Fine Artists of the Czech Republic, and the Association for Preschool Education. These associations, together with the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and the Municipal Museum in Kamenice nad Lipou, present the awards at the Hračkobraní festival, held annually since 2006 at the Kamenice nad Lipou Castle, where you can also view a permanent exhibition of all the awarded toys.

Granna is a Polish publisher and manufacturer of games. They have been producing games since 1991. Initially, the products were created at home on a modest family budget and stored in a rented basement. Today, they are based in a complex of halls and warehouses in Warsaw's Targówek district. The production halls and warehouses cover an area of thousands of square metres and the company employs approximately one hundred people. They export games to more than twenty countries around the world, including the Czech Republic. They already offer a hundred different games, but are constantly improving and expanding their portfolio. The most famous game is Superfarmer, which was created based on a game by the prominent Polish mathematician Professor Karol Borsuk in 1943. Their games are aimed at people of different age categories, from the youngest children to young adults. The Granna Expert series is aimed at advanced players. They also offer licensed games, localised versions of well-known world bestsellers. Their games have won various awards from organisations involved in the protection and development of children. They work with well-known authors, illustrators and graphic designers, as well as educators, in their creation. They also carefully select certified components and materials.
