The company owner, Lars Andreas Larsen, first founded a printing house in Flekkefjord, Norway, in 1947. In 1952, his son Pål received a gift from his aunt in America – a puzzle made of solid cardboard. The parents noticed that he played with it a lot compared to other, lower quality puzzles. At that time, there were few quality toys in Norwegian shops, so Larsen decided to make the puzzle himself. The first one was made in the basement of his family home a year later. In 1975, a factory was built, which was expanded in 1988 and 1993. Many of the production machines are specific, made directly for the Larsen company and their puzzles. The company employs 8 people, including the founder's son, his wife Jonna and son Lars Kristian. Larsen has more than 400 different puzzles on offer, some of which they produce with text in up to 30 different languages. They pride themselves on making their products not only beautiful, but also educational and fun, so that children want to play with them again and again. It helps the youngest children to develop their motor skills. Older children gain new knowledge while assembling. Children practice patience and concentration. The puzzle is made in Europe from 100% recycled materials. In the puzzle frame you can see the outlines of the pieces for easier assembly. The frame with the pieces is 4.4 mm thick, the pieces themselves are 2.5 mm thick. The brand has been evolving for over 60 years. They put a lot of time and care into each puzzle. They use hundreds of specially made cutting tools for the production, many of which are custom made for a particular puzzle. The pieces have many different non-standard shapes, such as animals or means of transport. They started producing educational puzzles in 1971. The first was a puzzle of world flags. Each piece has a flag and the name of the capital city, and under the cut-outs for the pieces are the names of the countries. Educational puzzles also include puzzles with animals, letters, words, sentences, clocks, numbers, traffic signs, the human body, etc. The trick is that each piece only fits in its place, so children immediately know that they have answered correctly. Therefore, educational puzzles are the perfect learning tool.
