The Ugears 3D wooden mechanical puzzle Mars Rover makes an original gift! The sophisticated model has 6×6 all-wheel drive, a cabin for two astronauts, a spring-loaded motor, a rotating joint between the cabin and the body, and fully sprung independent suspension. It boasts a front centre line shifted forward for better climbing and stability, front wheels that turn for better manoeuvrability, and large diameter wheels for overcoming obstacles. The ramp folds down at the rear, while the top-mounted parabolic antenna rotates 360° up and down. The buggy has a storage compartment containing a ratchet wrench that winds the spring motor. There is a sliding Start/Stop switch on the left rear panel. In the Stop position, turn the ratchet wrench several times, then close the hatch, switch the switch to the Start position, set up an obstacle course and watch as the six wheels cushion bumps thanks to the independent suspension and the rubberised wheels provide grip on smooth surfaces. Laser engraving provides a level of detail and realism. You can place a sticker with official NASA markings on the right side panel. The insignia, used since 1959, features a blue sphere representing the planet, a red V-shaped wing representing aviation, stars representing space, and a white circular orbit around the space agency's name. NASA insignias and identifiers provided and used with permission from NASA. The Artemis II NASA mission, scheduled to launch in November 2024, will pave the way for a permanent lunar base and eventually a manned mission to Mars. If humanity makes it to Mars, it will need a way to move quickly and efficiently across the surface. Not long after Neil Armstrong's first steps on the Moon (Apollo 11, July 21, 1969), astronauts David Scott and James Irwin raced across the lunar surface in a "moon buggy". (Apollo 15, July 31, 1971). The most scientifically interesting lunar rocks would never have been collected if we hadn't taken a car into space to explore a larger area. The LRV ("Lunar Roving Vehicle") was an impressive piece of technology, worked on by two engineers from General Motors, Mieczyslaw Gregory Bekker, born in Poland, and Ferenc Pavlics, born in Hungary. It had to carry twice its weight of 209 kg, withstand micrometeoroids travelling faster than bullets, and function reliably in temperature fluctuations of 500° F. Three LRVs remain in long-term parking on the lunar surface.
