V8 engines, with their distinctive sound, are synonymous with power. Thanks to the balanced arrangement of two rows of four cylinders in a V-shape, they create fewer vibrations than six-cylinder engines, which allows for higher performance. The V8 engine was patented in 1902 by French engineer Léon Levavasseur, and its typical use is in high-performance cars. It is little known that V8 engines were used in motorboats and even in aircraft and motorcycles. The V8 Engine is a 1:6 scale model that works either with an electric motor or by turning a knob, allowing you to observe the fascinating workings of this iconic internal combustion engine. The model accurately depicts all the main mechanisms of a real V8, including eight cylinders with rhythmically moving pistons, with two cylinders “firing” every 90 degrees of crankshaft rotation, 16 valves with springs that open and close as they are pushed by the heads on rotating camshafts, crankcase and valve train components connected to the timing chain, and a throttle valve on the intake manifold. The model is powered by an electric motor styled as a generator. A serpentine belt connects the crankshaft pulley to the other pulleys connecting engine accessories such as the air conditioning compressor, alternator, power steering pump and water pump. Connect the model to a power source using a USB-C cable, then turn on the switch and watch the engine come to life, or manually set the V-8 engine in motion with the rotary knob located under the switch.The model is realistically crafted down to the smallest details, such as the stylised exhaust manifold, spark plugs, oil pan, oil dipstick and caps for oil and brake fluid. The model is assembled in stages – first the cylinder block, then the valve blocks, allowing you to better understand how the engine works. The timing chain has 32 links and its tension can be adjusted with two tensioners that ensure the chain is not too loose or too tight.You can leave the model in an attractive natural wood look or paint or stain it (paints are not included). It is designed for more experienced modellers and no glue or special tools are needed to assemble it.
